Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Back to Safety is a nervous system regulation app developed by Audrey de Jong, Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist at GGZ IJssel-Berkel. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains clearly what data we collect, how we handle it, and your rights as a user.

1. Data We Collect

Back to Safety is designed to work on your device. Any data you create within the app, including journal entries, mood scores, and exercise history, is stored locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to the developer or any third party. Audio files used in the exercises are bundled directly within the app and are not streamed from external servers. No network connection is required to use the exercises, journal, or progress features. A connection is only needed if you choose to purchase or restore a subscription, as described in section 5.

2. No Account Required

Back to Safety does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or date of birth. You can use all features of the app anonymously, including the premium subscription.

3. Analytics and Tracking

We do not use any analytics tools, tracking technologies, cookies, or similar technologies within the app. We do not monitor your behaviour, usage patterns, or interactions within Back to Safety, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

4. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not share the data you create in the app with third parties. There are no advertising networks, data brokers, social media integrations, or analytics providers involved in the operation of this app. The only third parties involved are those required to process an optional subscription, described in section 5.

5. Purchases and Subscriptions

Back to Safety offers an optional premium subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles all payment information; we never see or receive your payment details.

To determine whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service acting as a data processor on our behalf. When you purchase or restore a subscription, the following information is processed: an anonymous user identifier generated by the app, your purchase and subscription history for this app, basic technical information about your device and app version, and your IP address.

This information is used for one purpose only: verifying whether your subscription is active. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking across apps or websites, and it is not linked to your journal entries, mood scores, or exercise history, which remain on your device.

RevenueCat may process this information outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, it is covered by a data processing agreement and the safeguards required under the GDPR. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.

If you never purchase a subscription, no purchase-related information is processed.

6. GDPR Compliance

Back to Safety is committed to compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable privacy law. All data you generate in the app remains exclusively under your own control on your device, and we have no access to it. The only personal data processed on our behalf is the limited subscription information described in section 5, which is processed on the basis of the contract between you and us for the delivery of the subscription. You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that information. Please use the contact details in section 10.

7. Children

Back to Safety is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are under 13, please do not use this app.

8. Data Security

Since all data you create is stored locally on your device, the security of that data depends on your own device settings and security measures. We recommend using a device passcode or biometric lock to protect access to your personal information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
